A Legacy from the Mughal Courts
Chikankari is a centuries-old whitework embroidery style native to Lucknow, India — most popularly traced to the Mughal empress Noor Jahan. Awarded Geographical Indication (GI) status in 2008, Lucknow was rightfully recognized as its exclusive, authentic home.
Every Label Rumi piece is meticulously hand-embroidered using traditional stitches passed down for generations. We specialize in Bakhiya (shadow-work, embroidered on the reverse so its shadow shows through sheer fabric), Jali (open lace-like work where the thread is never pulled fully through), and Murri (rice-shaped knots, the oldest and most prized chikan stitch).
Uncompromising Quality
We work exclusively with pure cotton, mul chanderi, chanderi silk, and viscose georgette — fabrics light enough for a needle to pass through cleanly, and sheer enough to let the exquisite embroidery breathe.
Pieces are made to order, not mass-produced. This means a slightly longer wait (6–8 working days) for embroidery that isn't machine-printed, ensuring every single thread is placed with intention and care.
