Chikankari, straight from the hands that made it in Lucknow.

Chikankari is a centuries-old whitework embroidery style native to Lucknow, India — most popularly traced to Mughal empress Noor Jahan, and awarded Geographical Indication (GI) status in 2008, recognising Lucknow as its exclusive home.

Every Label Rumi piece is hand-embroidered using traditional stitches: Bakhiya (shadow-work, embroidered on the reverse so its shadow shows through sheer fabric), Jali (open lace-like work where thread is never pulled fully through), and Murri (rice-shaped knots, the oldest and most prized chikan stitch). We work in pure cotton, mul chanderi, chanderi silk, and viscose georgette — fabric light enough for a needle to pass through cleanly, and sheer enough to let the embroidery breathe.

Pieces are made to order, not mass produced — which means a slightly longer wait (6–8 working days) for embroidery that isn't machine-printed.
